As part of our 2024 Charitable Cheers campaign at Sweet Cheeks Winery, we’re proud to support Burrito Brigade, a dedicated nonprofit committed to combating hunger in Oregon. Through their innovative programs, Burrito Brigade ensures that nutritious food reaches those who need it most.

About Burrito Brigade

Founded in 2014, Burrito Brigade is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based near downtown Eugene, Oregon. Their mission is to feed the hungry through three main initiatives:

  1. Weekend Burrito Brigade: Every Saturday and Sunday, volunteers prepare and distribute hundreds of nutritious vegan burritos to individuals experiencing food insecurity in Eugene and Springfield.
  2. Little Free Pantries: Established in 2019, these pantries are strategically placed throughout neighborhoods, allowing community members to “take what you need, give what you can.” This initiative fosters a spirit of mutual aid and ensures that food is accessible at a hyper-local level.
  3. Waste to Taste: Launched in 2020, this program rescues surplus food from local businesses and redistributes it through a free pantry, operating Monday through Friday by appointment. Shoppers can select items that suit their household needs, promoting dignity and reducing food waste.

Why Burrito Brigade Matters

Burrito Brigade operates on the belief that food is a human right. By addressing barriers to food access, they engage the community in the fight to end hunger. Their efforts have resulted in the distribution of over 300,000 nutritious vegan meals as of Spring 2023, demonstrating a significant impact on local food insecurity.

About the Charitable Cheers Campaign

From November 1st through December 31st, every paid tasting flight at Sweet Cheeks Winery will support Burrito Brigade, along with two other selected charities. Each tasting you enjoy contributes directly to their mission of feeding the hungry and reducing food waste in our community.
