Tempranillo is a varietal that originates in Spain, and is often considered Spain’s answer to Cabernet Sauvignon. The nose shows essence of ripe blackberries mingled with red and black stone fruit like plums and prunes. The dark purple wine fills the palate with a rich medley of intensely ripe fruit, licorice and leather. The wine’s concentration and structure are prominent in the mid-palate. Firm, round tannins frame a long complex, fruity finish with hints of vanilla and chocolate. This is a sexy, elegant red wine with great aging potential.
